Saturday

Heather and I organized the garage this morning. It looks much better and feels much better as well. We were able to better organize the garage to open it up and make it more practical for working. We also went and got Heather some light bulbs for her china cabinet, which looks very nice. During our shopping we also bought a rain gauge for well gauging the amount of rain we get. Been very busy today, and now we are off to baby-sit for some friends of ours.

Book

I have finished another book this week "Last Light" by Terri Blackstock . I would grade the book a B-, I enjoyed the book, but it felt very unfinished. I felt that I was only reading half of the story when the book ended. The message of the book is a good one. and I would recommend it. The book was also a quick read.

Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?

DR. PHIL: The problem we have here is that this chicken won't realize that he Must first deal with the problem on "THIS" side of the road before it goes after the problem on the "OTHER SIDE" of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he's acting by not taking on his "CURRENT" problems before adding "NEW" problems.

OPRAH: Well I understand that the chicken is having problems, which is why he wants to cross this road so bad. So instead of having the chicken learn from his mistakes and take falls, which is a part of life, I'm going to give this chicken a car so that he can just drive across the road and not live his life like the rest of the chickens.

GEORGE W BUSH: We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here.

COLIN POWELL: Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see the satellite image of the chicken crossing the road...

ANDERSON COOPER - CNN: We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the road.

NANCY GRACE: That chicken crossed the road because he's GUILTY! You can see it in his eyes and the way he walks.

PAT BUCHANAN: To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American.

MARTHA STEWART: No one called me to warn me which way that chicken was going. I had a standing order at the Farmer's Market to sell my eggs when the price dropped to a certain level. No little bird gave me any insider information.

DR SEUSS: Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told.

ERNEST HEMINGWAY: To die in the rain. Alone.

JERRY FALWELL: Because the chicken was gay! Can't you people see the plain truth in front of your face? The chicken was going to the "other side." That's why they call it the "other side." Yes, my friends, that chicken is gay. And if you eat that chicken, you will become gay too. I say we boycott all chickens until we sort out this abomination that the liberal media whitewashes with seemingly harmless phrases like "the other side." That chicken should not be crossing the road. It's as plain and as simple as that.

GRANDPA: In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road in 20 feet of snow. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough.

Barbara Walters: Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heart warming story of how it experienced a serious case of molting, and went on to accomplish its life-long dream of crossing the road.

JOHN LENNON: Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing roads together, in peace.

ARISTOTLE: It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

BILL GATES: I have just released eChicken2007, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your check book. Internet Explorer is an integral part of eChicken. This new platform is much more stable and will never cra...#@&&^( C \ reboot.

ALBERT EINSTEIN: Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken?

BILL CLINTON: I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What is your definition of chicken?

AL GORE: I invented the chicken!

COLONEL SANDERS: Did I miss one?

DICK CHENEY: Where's my gun?

Book

I finished James Rollins book Map Of Bones this week. It was pretty good, the book had a lot of action. As the Denver Rocky Mountain News said "Action-Packed....Dan Brown meets Tom Clancy....A-" I would agree with the A-, the book was good, but not the best I have ever read. Would be worth your time, but it is not going to imspire you to do anything excpet read.

Interview & Oso

My next interview is Tuesday June 19th @ 2 o'clock with Rockwall ISD. I should know something next Monday afternoon. Thanks you for all your prayers.

Also, we now have our dog Oso back with us. My parents had been keeping him while our house was up for sale, but we took our house off the market and now he is home with us. It is great to have our boy back with us. We really missed him.

Update

It’s now official no one wants me; I have been turned down by the Heathens and the Christians. Kind of a plateau in one’s career if you think about it, but oh well. DC call this morning and they decided to go with someone else. But, out of the darkness of my rejection sadness (lots of “ness” going on right now) I did receive a phone call from Rockwall Heath. I have made it to the second round of interviews with them. I will need to call on Monday morning and set up a time to meet with one of their higher ups. I should know something Monday the 25th of June. So, that’s were we are at, please continue to pray for us; you guys are great :)

Job Interviews

I have been on a couple of job interviews this week and I think both went very well. Hopefully I am the person one of the two schools is looking for. Now for the hardest part, waiting for them to call and tell if they want me or not. The good thing is I am very much at peace, and have faith that where ever I am next year will be good for me. I should know something fairly soon from both schools, but until then off to summer school P.E., my little nerds await me……….

The Best

Here is my list of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of dinning at. Feel free to add to my list.

Steak: Lowake Steak House in Lowake, Texas.
Mexican: El Ranchero in Bronte, Texas (yes it is no longer there but it was the best)
Italian: Italy, yes the entire country. You can’t find a bad meal in the entire country. Locally I would have to go with Buca di Beppo.
Bar-B-Q: Harold’s Pit Bar-B-Q in Abilene, show up after 11:30 for lunch and tell me it is not the best. Long lines before noon don’t lie.

That is about it for my list so far. I am a little sleepy so my brain is not working at 100% so I could add more categories later or you could add some if you like.

Bob's

On Saturday night Heather and I went to Bob’s Steak & Chop House for dinner. For those of you that do not know Bob’s it is a nice Steak House in Dallas. If you went to dinner at Bob’s you would expect to pay around one hundred dollars for a dinner for two. I had the New York strip and Heather had the Rack of Lamb. Both were good, but I must say I usually don’t take my steak with a long jet black hair on it. Yes, that’s right folks a hair in my steak and I didn’t even place it there this time. I was to say the least surprised, Bob’s is not the type of place you would expect to find hair in your food. When all was said and done the manager provided me with a shrimp cocktail while my next steak was cooking. And, let me tell you something that shrimp was huge and good. I have caught catfish the size of this shrimp; they made jumbo shrimp look silly. Also, the manager did not charge me for the steak, which I thought was a very nice gesture; I would go back for that simple fact. Over all I would grade Bob’s a A- for steak. I have had better steak, but the steak was above average and beats anything you’re going to get at your local chain restaurant.

CALLED TO SHINE

We are called to be a beacon,
A light that all might see,
The way to peace and joy
And how God like all can be.
So be the living proof
Of all that He can do.
Live your life in such a way
That God will shine in you.

At the Mall

I was at the mall today wasting time while someone was looking at our house. I was able to find some nice polo type shirts and a book to buy. While I was walking around I started to get thirsty. So I wondered over to my favorite cookie place to buy a drink. Why buy a drink there? It smells really good, and since I cannot eat cookies right now at least I can smell them. Anyway, when I ordered my large diet coke the lady helping me said “No cookie today?” and I replied “No, I am on a diet and my wife would get mad if I ate a cookie”. Now when I said this she stopped what she was doing looked up at me and asked if I could wait a moment I said yes I can, and in a few seconds she returned with a very pretty Indian (dot not feather) girl that appeared to be in her late teens maybe early twenties. When she brought her over to me the lady asked if I would tell her what I just said, so I did. Come to find out these two women had just been talking about men and relationships and the Indian girl has had several bad relationships and the guys she dated all lied to her. And, the other lady was trying to convince her that there are good guys out there and so on and so forth. Apparently the lady was impressed that I would tell my wife if I cheated on my diet, and not just lie about it or not tell her. Well, we stood there for about 5 minutes talking, and in the end I think I convinced the young Indian girl that the best place to meet a good guy is church. I got the feeling she does not go to church now, but it would not take much to get her going back. She asked where I go and we talked about different religions/churches and in the end I told her to find a church she liked, then look for a guy there. Hopefully my words had an impact on her, and she will both go to church and find a good man.
It is amazing how many different ways your life can go. One moment I am ordering a diet coke and the next I could be changing a girl’s life. I guess the lesson is to always be prepared, because you never know when God is going to call on you.

Nice

This morning while my summer school P.E. students were on the track walking I watched a grandfather and grandson(9 or 10 years old) together. They started off like my students, walking around the track, but afterwards they played catch. It is not something that you see much of any more. They brought their ball, gloves, and a bat for a fun morning together. Most of the times these days it seems like every kid is being groomed to be the next big sports superstar. Every throw or catch is broken down and the kids is taught how to be the best. To watch a grandfather and grandson just play a little catch and then watch the grandfather hit the ball to his grandson was a nice for me. Something very peacefull about it.

Update

It has been a while since I have posted and I thought I would let you know what is going on.

First of all last Friday night I pulled my hamstring, and yes it hurt...bad. This is one of the reasons I have not posted. Today is the first day I could really sit in a chair and not be in pain. The leg is getting better, but it will be a few weeks unitl everything is back to normal.

Last Monday (June 4th) was mine and Heather's 2 year annivesary. Wh went out Saturday night to the Melting Pot. We had a great time, even though I was in a lot of pain. The meal was great and the chiefs were amazing.

For most of Saturday and Sunday I did not do much. Had my leg wrapped and iced for most of both days.

Monday was the frist day of summer school. I have 34 kids this year. 28 in my early class and 6 in my late class. Everything is going pretty good, so bumps here and there but for the most part pretty easy.

Not much else is going on, just trying to keep myself busy, which is hard when you can't move very well. Oh well, I guess I will live.
