Vacations Past

Here are some pictures of the past 2 summer trips. Of course I have many more I just picked a couple from each trip. This year we are not going to Europe, but I am sure we will have a great time.

Walking Does Pay

I was very bored and very much restless today. I have finished all the projects that I have around the house, and I get very restless just sitting. So, I have been walking on my treadmill on and off for about two hours. I will walk a while then take a short break then back on again. I also decided to take Oso for a walk around the neighborhood. While on my walk I found a dollar bill and then about a block later I found a dime. So, I guess walking does pay……….

Grandfather's Desk

Up close picture of the base I built for my grandfather's desk. I sanded and refinished the desk last summer, but the desk was too short for me. So I built some blocks to raise the desk up so I fit under it.

Here is a picture of the entire desk.

Finished

The finished product. Should offer some shade and a place to hang plants or whatever.

Getting closer

This is what I was able to finsh today. Now I have to finish staining the 2x4's that will go across (parallel) to the house. Should be able to complete this project by Wednesday. And yes that is Oso, he is doing a good job of keep me on task.

With some help from Heather I was able to box in the top. I should be able to finish soon.

Cement poured

The cement has been poured and all four posts are set. Tomorrow we will start boxing in the top, after that things should go pretty quickly, and soon Oso will have some cover. Pictures to come soon.

Digging Done

After a short break, that was a little longer than I wanted because of rain, I have finished digging the 4 post holes. I was also able to stain some more of the wood, and started watching season 3 of 24, so all in all I call today a good day. Now off to the showers I must go, for when my Heather comes home I do not know......

Digging

Digging has begun!!! And yes digging post holes sucks as much today as it did when I was in high school. I have two holes dug and have two holes left to dig. Problem is my hands and forearms are starting to crap and stiffen up. I am going to take a little break and then try it again later this afternoon. The digging is actually going pretty good. The ground is soft, but I am digging up clay and it sticks to the post hole digger, so after even scope I have to stop and pull the clay of the post hole digger. Oh well, it is better than digging through rock.

Book

I just finished Donald Miller's book "Searching for God Knows What". It is a very good book, and I would recommend this book to anyone. I really enjoyed the writing style of Miller. This is, to me, a fresh look at our world and why we do the things we do. I really enjoyed the chapter about Jesus (Chapter 9). It you have time to read a book this would be a good one to invest in.

Busy Saturday

Since it is sunny out side today I went ahead and mowed the yard this morning. Luckily for me I remembered to put on bug spray before I started. I also created my iGoogle home page. I had been meaning to play with it but I forgot about it. It is pretty cool, and I like being able to share documents with my family. Here soon I am off to buy lumber and supplies for a cover for our back porch. I call it a cover because I do not know what to call it. It will cover our back porch and provide shade for Oso. It will not be a solid cover, so rain and some sun will get through. Have a great Saturday.

Transformers

I watched the Transformers movie today. The movie was pretty good, if you played with the toys or remember them it was even better. I do believe that this was the best movie I have seen this summer. I linked the trailer below.

Truck

I went and bought new tires for my truck today, and had the oil changed as well. Up keep on my truck is not cheap, but it is better than having a payment each month. I wonder how many people really own the cars/trucks that they drive????
